Whether you struggle with over eating, emotional eating, anoxia or bulimia; having support is vital to ensuring your success. Eating disorders come in all shapes & sizes but left un-maintained will consume your life. I understand this first hand, having personally struggled with bulimia and emotional eating for years. This is not a battle you have to do on your own!
Reaching out for help can be the scariest part of disorder because for most of us this has been our hidden secret for so many years. The period of time following treatment for an eating disorder can present individuals with some unexpected challenges. While in the care of a treatment center you are surrounded by supportive people who understand the ciaos swirling in your head but once you “graduate” this safe environment is no longer there.
Statistically, it is estimated that 8 million Americans have an eating disorder, nearly half of all Americans personally know someone with an eating disorder. About 80% of the girls/women who have accessed care for their eating disorders do not get the intensity of treatment they need but working with a coach after treatment almost doubles your odds for success! After treatment patients can feel lost when family and friends are expecting them to return to life as normal. But normal after an eating disorder must be reconstructed, working with a coach 1 on 1 will not only help you learn the skills you need to reconstruct a “normal” life but also help you develop a healthy relationship with self and food.
